Mission Outreach Opportunities
and steadfast love belongs to you, O Lord. For you repay to all according to their work.
These are examples of existing Mission Outreach opportunities. Everyone is encouraged to create a new one that fits their passion!
Opportunities
Adopt A Highway
Our congregation takes responsibility for litter control on a one mile segment of State Highway 78.
Baby Care Kits
Project Promise Baby Care Kits are distributed as part of emergency relief efforts but they are also given to encourage expectant women to seek prenatal care. Help welcome the littlest ones into a caring international community and swaddle them with love!
Food Pantries
We serve and provide food, clothing and personal/household essentials to two area food pantries: Heights Unlimited Community Service Center in Mazomanie; and Christians in Action – Community Food Pantry in Mazomanie.
Funeral Lunches
We offer comfort, support and fellowship by setting up a luncheon for those attending funerals at Vermont Lutheran Church. The food is provided for the family and friends in the fellowship hall and/or gathering place. We are always ready to welcome anyone who would be able to help in any number of ways.
God’s Work, Our Hands Day
Each year our members participate in the ELCA’s God’s Work, Our Hands day by helping someone in the community, like splitting firewood, cleaning up a yard, singing at the local Nursing Home, etc.
Homeless Veterans
We provide Madison Area Veterans exiting homelessness an initial set of Move-In-Essentials.
Luke House
We provide funds to help pay the other costs (not the food) for maintaining This Community Meal Center in Madison.
Operation Christmas Child
From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. The Sunday School program often does this project on God’s Work, Our Hands day.
Personal Care Kits
Project Promise Personal Care Kits are shared with people who have lost everything from a natural disaster or life-threatening violence.
Quilts
Through a simple combination of fabric and thread, our quilters make between 250 – 300 quilts each year that are distributed through Lutheran World Relief, reaching out to people in their time of greatest need with a strong message of hope — we CARE, you are not alone.
School Kits
Imagine having to choose between a meal or purchasing a notebook. Project Promise School Kits are sent to places where even the few required school supplies may be more than a family can afford. Pencils and paper can help write a positive future.
School Supplies
In addition to the school kits, we also collect school supplies that are donated to Wisconsin Heights Elementary School.
Sugar Creek Bible Camp
We provide funding and volunteer help to support the camp and our Confirmation students who attend the camp.
